Meeting your partner’s family is always a nerve-wracking experience. However, it can be even more complicated when your families are from completely different cultures. This woman is South Korean, and her husband is Pakistani. When they got serious about their relationship and introduced each other to their families, they were met with reticence and hesitation on both sides.
Her South Korean family made racist comments about her partner and warned her against marrying him. They had negative ideas about men from Pakistani culture that were far from true. His family also tried to discourage their union by saying she wasn’t good enough and was an outsider. Thankfully, they beat the odds and have been happily married for ten years.
