#39: Commitment to Character
The voice actors behind the animated characters bring them to life. Essentially, these actors are a big part of the characters they portray. Any animated character would be completely different if a different actor voiced it. And the same goes for the beloved Mr. Potato Head, who was first introduced to us in Toy Story.
Don Rickles was the actor who voiced Mr. Potato Head in all Toy Story films since the first one came out in 1995. Sadly, Rickles passed away in 2017 at the age of 91. When the production of Toy Story 4 came around the following year, the production team couldn’t dream of replacing his iconic voice. And so, they pieced together all of Mr. Potato Head’s lines using voice materials from previous movies after going through two decades of outtakes and materials.
