#47: Painted Background
You might not be able to tell the difference. Still, Lilo and Stitch (2002) are one of the only Disney movies that feature watercolor-painted backgrounds, while the traditional coloring technique for animation backgrounds uses gouache. In fact, it’s the first movie since Dumbo (1941) to use this unique technique. Other movies that feature this technique are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and Pinocchio (1940).
This is why the backgrounds of these films look so colorful and like-like. Viewers might be unable to tell the difference while watching the films, and people would certainly not be able to indicate what technique is being used, but you can see how beautiful it looks.
