#14: Prisoners of War
Though there are a few factors in place to up the odds here – the Vietnamese restaurant setting, for one, combined with the overall percentage of Vietnamese refugees ending up in Canada – there’s no doubt that this is one moving moment we would have liked to have been able to witness.
For migrants who are forced to give up their previous lives after years of persecution in their home country, finding people to identify with in unexpected places can provide a great deal of comfort as well as bring up old emotions. I’m not in the least bit surprised that it was emotional.
