Grandmothers aren’t supposed to be cool. They can be sweet, or they can be cranky, but cool? Never. However, this one granny is proving us wrong. Here she sits on the engine of a DeSoto Fire Dome at the 1952 Los Angeles International Automobile Show. We aren’t sure why she’s sitting on the machine, but she does look amazing.

This picture makes us truly appreciate the fashion of the early 50s. Grandma is wearing a tight, short-sleeved sweater, a pair of short shorts, and high heels. She’s so fashion-forward! Many women of the day wore poofy skirts, often with petticoats, so we love to see the variety of fashion from back in the day.
