#24: New Jersey
At first glance, this seems like an odd depiction of New Jersey, but it might be rooted in the strong Italian heritage of many of its residents. Known as the “Garden State,” New Jersey is a place rich in cultural diversity – and stereotypes. One prevalent stereotype is its strong Italian-American influence, with many residents having Italian heritage. This is reflected in the state’s vibrant culinary scene, renowned for delicious pizza, pasta, and delectable Italian delicacies.
New Jersey also has a reputation for its bustling urban areas, such as Newark and Jersey City, where fast-paced city life is the norm. On the flip side, the state boasts picturesque coastal towns and beautiful beaches, countering the misconception that it’s all concrete and congestion. So, while New Jersey may have some stereotypes, it’s a state of multifaceted identities and landscapes that offer a little something for everyone.
