Well, it’s an Inkwell
This seems to be some kind of a decorative object with a purpose. Two small metal jars are wielded on a larger piece of metal with decorations. Perhaps candle holders? But then what’s the purpose of the lids? Once again, our trustworthy friends at Reddit have all the answers.
As some of you may have guessed (perhaps you’ve seen this item before in a 19th century periodical drama or a museum), this is an inkwell. However, as one Redditor pointed out, this is a double inkwell – one is used to dip the pen in ink, while the other is used to dip the pen in water, preventing the ink from clogging the tip.
