Windows 3.1
By the time 1992 rolled around, computers had been in existence for a few decades. However, the 90s brought about a golden age where more and more households could afford to have a personal computer in their homes. Enter Windows 3.1. This new, cutting-edge operating system by Microsoft introduced many of the features we grew to know and love throughout the decade and the beginning of the 21st century.
Windows 3.1 introduced screensavers, a new and snazzy feature at the time. The operating system also had Minesweeper, Windows Media Player, and Sound Recorder. Super cool. Of course, Solitaire was also a star of the Microsoft 3.1 show. Who remembers agonizing over which style of deck to choose before a game started?
