Boil, Boil, Toil and Trouble
It’s hard to convey sarcasm through text messages. The only time it truly works is if you’re messaging someone you know very well. These two family members know each other pretty well, but one was still able to throw off the other with an off-handed, ominous message about using boiling water in a water balloon fight with the neighbor.
After they sent, “I’m in. Just waiting for the water to boil,” the other person was left speechless. They could only respond with a simple “what.” No question mark, no further questions. Maybe they didn’t want to know any more information in case they’d be labeled as complicit later on after the fated water fight.
