Spud Comics is an enjoyable series of one-panel comics by artist Lonnie Easterling. With a fun and colorful style, bitingly witty punchlines, and pop culture references abounding, what’s not to love? Despite the name, however, Easterling assures us these comics (usually) have nothing to do with potatoes; Spud was simply a nickname Lonnie got as a child from his grandfather, and it carried over into adulthood and to the comics we see today. We’ve gathered some of the best comics we’ve seen of his for your enjoyment.
1. Never Change, Clippy; We Believe In You
Choose your poison. Paperclips or staplers to keep your papers together? Both work, depending on if you want holes in them or not. Poor Clippy here is likely feeling a bit out of his depth at this party with the staplers. Is it a Microsoft Office party?
He should be the star, but it seems the crowds are making him nervous. It’s okay, Clippy; we still love you. Maybe a friendly extroverted Pencil will adopt him, and he can finally relax and come out of his shell a bit to have a good time.
