Have you ever been strolling around Disneyland and all of a sudden thought, “it’s a little warm today, I’m going to hop in this nice cool shop for a few minutes,” or out of nowhere decided you need a churro or else you may lose your mind? Well, Disneyland is magical in a lot of ways, and one of those ways is how well they control pretty much every facet of their park, including your brain. Do You Smell Popcorn?
Let’s just say, Disneyland’s designers are no stranger to the fact that smell is the sense most closely linked with memories, which is why every morning you can smell freshly popped popcorn at the park. And just thinking about it is working on us already.
About Those Hot Streets…
What happens when you combine hot sunshine with dark pavement? You start looking for a cool shop to go into real fast. And what are you going to do once you’re inside? Linger in the A.C. And what does that turn into? A purchase, typically. And there you have it.

Here is a fun little mind trick parks play on employees: once employees have checked out their costumes and changed, the magical jingle from Tinkerbell begins to play, and this signal to staff that their transition is complete and it’s time to turn on the old razzle dazzle.
Go Away Green
Odds are, you’ve never even noticed these doors, and for good reason; these doors are painted with a color known as ‘Go Away Green’, and this particular shade of green is designed for eyes to simply skim the doors, and keep it moving.
Sweet Dreams
Have you ever found a good place to stand within the park, perhaps waiting on a friend or family member, and out of nowhere you would do anything for a vanilla cupcake? Disney knows. And they did it on purpose. What often looks like a speaker, is actually a vent blowing sweet vanilla straight to your nostrils.
Trash Cans a Plenty
Have you ever struggled to find a trash bin at a Disney park? We doubt it. By placing a number of trash cans all around, people use them, keeping Disney Parks cleaner than other parks. In fact, Walt Disney himself used to buy a drink, walk around, then look for a garbage can, if he couldn’t find one? He put one there.
