His Last Words
Following the boxing match, Tupac and Suge Knight were en route to Club 662, owned by Death Row Records. As they idled at a traffic light, striking a conversation with women in an adjacent vehicle, tragedy struck. Another car pulled up alongside them, carrying an assailant who opened fire on Tupac. The rapper was struck by four bullets, sustaining injuries to his chest, arm, and thigh.
Las Vegas police officer Chris Carroll, the first to arrive at the scene, reported that Tupac’s last words were a defiant “f*** you,” and he remained uncooperative with other officers. While hospitalized, Tupac received unsettling news that someone had issued death threats against him via a call to his record company. Astonishingly, when this threat was reported to the Las Vegas police, they declined to investigate, citing understaffing as their reason. This tragic incident would go on to have far-reaching implications in the world of music and beyond.
