His Time in Afghanistan
Despite his reputation as a partygoer, Harry focused on his military career after joining the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in May 2005. By 2006, he faced deployment to an active war zone, with plans to serve in Iraq. However, public outcry made the British Army reconsider, keeping him out of combat.
Disappointed by the decision, Harry insisted he wouldn’t have enlisted if he couldn’t fight. His wish came true in 2007 when he served in Afghanistan for 10 weeks, battling the Taliban as a co-pilot gunner. Upon returning, Harry revealed his combat experiences and earned praise for his instincts in the cockpit.
