Playing Past Their Prime
Most people envision retiring from their career after wrinkles have formed roadmaps on their face after decades of service, but time functions differently on the football field, where the average career length is a mere two and a half to three and a half years, and most players retire around 35 years old.
Of course, not everyone is average, and there are players whose names have been on the roster longer than some of their fans have been alive. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady became the oldest player to participate in a Super Bowl at 43 years old, closely followed by Colts kicker Matt Stover who was 42.
