Customer service phone support has to be one of the most challenging service jobs. People who call these lines are already mad about something and looking for an outlet for their anger, and you must take dozens of these calls daily. However, customer service reps have another way of dealing with unruly customers besides being dead inside.

This person confirmed that reps do, in fact, put irate customers on hold for more extended periods of time. Think of it as an adult time-out, if you will. Of course, this usually backfires and makes customers even angrier, but customer service reps have to find happiness in the small things, right?
