#45: Tree Branch Muddler
Tiffany & Co. is a luxury jewelry retailer known for its pricy jewelry and accessories. So, when someone shared a picture of a mysterious wooden object from Tiffany’s, it’s clear why it sparked people’s interest. Clearly, this isn’t jewelry. Apparently, this woman inherited this from her grandma, who refused to tell her what this was, only that she used it as a young woman and now she doesn’t have much use for it.
Someone on Reddit revealed that Tiffany’s object is called a muddler (or a tree branch muddler). Although this one was probably purchased sometime in the 1930s or 1940s, muddlers are still used today. You can use the rounded end to smash fruits (and other things found in the bottom of jars) to release their flavors. Another common use for the muddler is to mix cocktails – which is why bartenders often use this tool.
