Unlike what some people probably thought, these mysterious smoke rings have nothing to do with aliens. Cylindrical, metal barrels hanging on electric posts known as “transformers” are responsible for them. This phenomenon is called soliton, resulting from a rotating motion of smoke from the transformers.
