#17: Nature’s Plates
Right on the spot, we decided to call lily pads ‘nature’s plates’ simply because of the flat, round structure they have. You could probably have a snack off of them in a pinch. Storybooks show us that they provide a nice platform for frogs to take a rest on, and when they flower, they’re incredibly beautiful.
Well, they won’t be beautiful for long if you decide to flip one over. It’s far from beautiful. In fact, we’d say it takes several steps towards being uncomfortable to look at (trypophobia, anyone?). The veins on the underside spread out in such a clinical fashion that it is kind of eerie, but pretty cool nonetheless.
