#18: Another Missed Opportunity
This is one of those stories where I totally get why the person is upset with the outcome, but it’s tough because he really didn’t do anything all that wrong. In general, it is a better idea to invest in a mutual fund than to pick individual stocks.

Why? Because most of the time, mutual funds earn respectable, steady returns, and when you attempt to pick individual stocks, you run a high chance of that company going under and you lose all of your money. At least the investments in your mutual fund are diversified. But that is not much of a comfort when you are looking at the insane price of Apple right now.
