Billy Idol
Billy Idol was born in the Middlesex town of Stanmore. Idol’s parents moved to Patchogue, New York, when he was two years old. And a school teacher’s description of him as “idle” prompted the moniker “Billy Idol.” — He milked his shame to greatness.
In 1994, Idol passed out outside a Los Angeles nightclub after an overdose on the narcotic GHB. At the time, GHB was a legal substance mostly taken by weightlifters. Following the tragedy, Idol said that his children would never forgive him for dying of a drug overdose, and he shifted his focus to parenthood.
