#36: No Such Peanut Butter
I just about fell out of my chair laughing when I read this one, because just a few weeks ago, I was talking to some people about eating peanut butter when we were growing up, and I said that my mom “always bought us basic stuff like Jiffy.” Someone I was with cracked up and corrected me that there is no such thing, informing me that I’d just experienced the Mandela effect.
And here it is, confirming to me that I am not the only person who has made that mistake before! It makes sense, though, that we would be confused; Jif is a brand, and Skippy is a brand, so it’s not that far a leap to imagine our brains mixing up the two words and coming up with Jiffy.
