This notion really overlooks the complex interplay between perseverance, innate ability, opportunity, and sometimes physical constraints. An individual without legs faces undeniable challenges in traditional soccer and would be unable to participate in it. However, they may excel in a sport like Paralympic football, which is adapted for athletes with disabilities.
The broader lesson is that greatness is multifaceted and individual. We each have unique potentials and limits, and recognizing this helps us to set meaningful goals. It’s about finding the areas where our efforts and abilities align, allowing us to reach our own version of “the best” within the context of our personal realities.
