An “Unprovoked” Excuse
It goes without saying that physically fighting on school grounds is off-limits. Not only is it dangerous, but it models inappropriate and violent behavior that educators don’t want their students to emulate. However, this parent feels that violence is, in fact, the answer when it comes to resolving conflict.
This parent’s kid would constantly fight with other students by hitting and spitting. When the teachers tried to address this behavior with her, she simply said that her kid wouldn’t act that way unless they were “provoked” by another student. Basically, she was validating her kid’s violent tendencies as an appropriate way to deal with arguments. Yikes.
