The Lost Diamonds
Many educators out there will openly admit that dealing with parents is the hard part of teaching. This storyteller’s mom experienced that first-hand when a mom accused her of stealing a diamond earring from her six-year-old daughter. It got so bad that what started off as an innocent, routine visit to the nurse’s office turned into a lawsuit.
The storyteller’s mom worked as a school nurse and helped a little girl who had just gotten her ears pierced. The girl’s parents had given her gold and diamond earrings, but she took them out because they were bothering her. One of the earrings got lost on the way to the nurse’s office, and the parents couldn’t believe that their little six-year-old could possibly misplace something so valuable. Sounds impossible, right?
