For Your Own Protection
This story might be an example of taking gentle parenting to the extreme. Our storyteller works for a kid’s outdoor program. They take their student’s safety very seriously and want them to learn how to act safely in an outdoor environment. One day, one of their students was about to run into a road with oncoming traffic.
In a natural reaction, our storyteller yelled at the kid to get out of the road. It was a dangerous situation that required a serious tone of voice, which this kid wasn’t used to hearing at home. The kid immediately started having a meltdown. Although the mom wasn’t mad at our storyteller, she did try to get them to apologize for yelling. How about a “thank you” for saving her kid?
