#22: The Old Man of the Mountain, New Hampshire
The Old Man of the Mountain, also known as the Great Stone Face and The Profile, was a series of granite stones jutting out of Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire. The Abenaki and the Mohawk people considered it an important symbol in their culture.
But the chance has tragically passed into history if you haven’t seen this striking sight. Despite many attempts to help secure the formation, it collapsed on May 3, 2003. Although gone, the Old Man of the Mountain has not been forgotten and still remains an iconic symbol in New Hampshire.
