#9: We’re Here for the Money
Let’s be honest. “Dream jobs” are extremely hard to find and might not even exist for some people. Mostly everyone has a job because of the simple fact that they have to earn money to survive and support their families, and that’s totally fine. The crazy thing is that most employers expect employees to be 100% dedicated and honored to work for them. Sometimes, a job is just a job.
This guy interviewed for a steel mill one time, and he wasn’t having any of the usual, “it’s an honor to work for us” gibberish. When asked why he wanted to work for the company, he was honest and said he needed money to take care of his family, in a half-joking way. The interviewer, on his end, took offense and went on and on about how special the company was. Whatever. Just because someone is working for the paycheck doesn’t mean they won’t be a good employee!
