#14: Thank You for Not Smoking
As a non-smoker, I’m very grateful that smoking isn’t allowed on planes. I don’t like the smell of it, and I don’t like that if I’m near a smoker, the smell is going to get into my clothes and my hair. And as the owner of a pair of lungs that I’ve done a great deal to keep reasonably healthy, I appreciate not having to breathe in secondhand smoke.
And now I have even more reasons to feel that way! I’ve never thought about this before, but it totally makes sense that a fire is more dangerous on an aircraft than it would be on other vehicles. Airplanes have to have a self-contained air system that circulates air throughout the plane, so a fire in one place very quickly becomes everyone’s problem.
