The microwave is one of the most under-appreciated kitchen tools. Most of us use it because it’s a convenient way to reheat leftovers and cook our frozen TV dinners. However, our microwaves are so much more than that. It’s about time we learn about the secret features of the humble microwave so it can shine as a kitchen star.
Your food no longer has to be scalding hot or a chewy mess. You can adjust the wattage and even microwave things in different “modes,” such as defrosting. You can do everything from drying herbs to making eggs (yes, really). You can also microwave your kitchen sponge on “high” to disinfect. Microwaves are the bee’s knees.
