A Whole New Proposal
All Disney movies have fantastic soundtracks (and we’re completely unbiased saying this), but Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” is perhaps one of the most memorable Disney songs. It has even won two Grammy Awards, for Song Of The Year and Best Song Written Specifically For A Motion Picture Or For Television, and an Academy Award!
We’re not here to talk about the song, though, but the scene it accompanies. While the song is played in the background, Aladdin and Jasmine are journeying over Greece. At one point, Aladdin casually throws an apple at Jasmine, and she picks it up. In Ancient Greece, people used to propose by throwing apples at their beloved. So, was this Aladdin’s way of proposing to Jasmine? Is it possible this was a proposal, and we all completely missed it?
