#34: Beach Snowballs
It isn’t every day that you see snow on the beach. Typically, people associate beaches with warm, sunny weather. Unfortunately, not all beaches are great winter getaways! If you head up to one of the beaches on one of the Great Lakes in Michigan, you’ll notice that even in summer, it can be relatively cool.
One Michigan woman found these giant snowballs floating in the water and along the shoreline one winter day. These snowballs can frequently appear along colder coastlines. What happens is that ice balls begin to form in the freezing water, and the currents then spin them around so that they grow into much larger balls as they freeze more water around them. We’ll skip that snowball fight!
